  Lennie Moore was in the middle of writing Mentors when the COVID-19 pandemic kicked into high gear – thus creating a major production challenge: How do you record a big band album with only one player at a time, make it sound like everyone is in the same space, and simulate the interactions that happen between players in the room? You do what you can by spending the rest of the year completing arrangements and reference tracks. Followed by having each player remotely record in their houses starting with drums and building up from rhythm section to lead section players to everyone else. Then you do a truckload of editing and mixing until it sounds like a big band. Easy, right?
